Last weekend I was asked to donate my time for an amazing cause in the Redmond area. I had the opportunity to meet the founders of the Just Garden Project and work closely with one of their build sites at Einstein elementary school.
About 70 of us met at the Old Firehouse Teen Center in downtown Redmond. We all powered up with a donated breakfast from Whole Foods and broke into build teams. We grabbed some seeds and sprouts and our group hit the road.
After the introduction, the team began to build three raised garden beds while I took photos of the event. I was able to capture the entire day and watch the children have a great time!

“To build food gardens for families in need and communities serving at risk populations throughout King County, Gardens help King County families experiencing hunger meet their basic needs by transforming their relationship with food—from consumer into producer, and from eating enough into eating well”

I received some exciting news late last week that a recent real estate shoot of mine in North Seattle was going to be spotlighted in the Seattle PI. Last week I finished a shoot for the restaurant group that owns Marché and Café Campagne in the Marketplace. They will be packaging and selling their products on Amazon Fresh. I had the privilege of working with their manager, Bill Munn and Executive Chef, Daisley Gordon. For all you foodies out there, he was a judge on the recent season of Top Chef Seattle, where their restaurant, Marche, was featured. Get in there by April 15th for my favorite seasonal dish, Cassoulet!
While the season is changing and we are all praying for the beautiful Seattle sun, I have been busy with some new real estate endeavors as well as a recent shoot with an amazing fitness program called Total Body Tabata created by Autumn Antovich-Steel and Vicki Hatch-Moen. The program focuses around high-intensity, interval, athletic training that leaves you breathless. I was exhausted just snapping pictures of the class at The Seattle Gym!

First impressions are extremely important when a home is put on the market. Buyers are busier than ever and may not have the time to do the old fashioned ‘drive by’ as well as technology has made it easier than ever to view and evaluate listings on the internet.
This brings up the importance of high-resolution photos. Don’t have images of the property yet? Don’t list the home until you do. Most buyers will shop on the Internet for potential homes. Without quality images to showcase the home and ‘wow’ potential buyers, more than likely the home will be passed by. Properly lit, high-resolution images are ideal for marketing your home. Sometimes less is more in regards to a particular setting. Decluttering featured rooms of personal items, photos, etc allows potential buyers to picture themselves in the home. A clean view will make for a lasting impression. With so much information on the internet, you only have a few seconds to catch a buyer’s attention.
Staging a home is critical for clean photos. Adding or removing certain objects gives the buyer the opportunity to envision the layout and how they might fill the space as a homeowner. Planning the shoot in advance can help work out important details such as, when does the house catch the best natural light? While it may seem obvious, a deep clean of the home is absolutely necessary.
Remember to always use a high quality camera and/or hire a professional. It’s time to make your next listing stand out!
Last weekend, I headed over to Spokane, WA for a visit and an opportunity to take pictures of a house in Peaceful Valley. This beautiful home, situated on the Spokane River, is considered to be the ‘greenest’ house in WA, although, you would never be able to tell by just looking at it. The energy efficiency and green technology built into this house does not stick out in its sleek design. Below are some awesome facts and images of this home:
-Photovoltaic panels cover the south side of the home’s roof. The panels generate so much power, that the owner sells back the surplus energy to the utilities company.
-The wood used to make the kitchen cabinetry was salvaged from the remodel of a local hotel, and the oak flooring came from the siding of old barns. Even the sheet rock is made from recycled materials, and the insulation is made from bits of denim left over from the process of making jeans.
-The tiles for the kitchen and bathroom backsplashes were made from recycled wine and beer bottles by Spokane artisan Jeff Hazen.
-The toilets have two flushing options, depending on how much water you need. There’s also a waterless urinal in one bathroom.
-The living room’s fireplace is made from bricks salvaged from the local Community Building, including some blackened when the building suffered a fire years ago.
-Two 500-gallon tanks collect rainwater underground, and that water eventually will irrigate a raised-bed vegetable garden.
